Privacy Policy

Free Route Planner(“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information we collect

You can use the planner without creating an account. Guest planning sends address inputs to MapQuest for geocoding and routing; we do not retain guest routes on our servers.

If you create an optional account (via Clerk), we store your email, routing preferences, and any routes you choose to save so you can reload them later. Free accounts may save up to three routes; an active subscription unlocks unlimited saves.

We may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and analytics purposes. We do not sell this data.

To show nearby address suggestions in the route planner, we estimate your approximate city-level location from your IP address (via Vercel's edge geolocation when available, or a GeoIP lookup). This is used only to rank suggestions and is not stored as a personal profile. We do not request precise GPS/browser location permission.

If you purchase a plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to enforce entitlements; card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored on our servers.

Third-party services

  • MapQuest— geocoding, routing, and map tiles. Your address queries are sent to MapQuest's servers. See MapQuest's Privacy Policy.
  • Clerk — optional authentication. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.
  • Neon — database hosting for saved routes and preferences when you use an account.
  • GeoIP — approximate location from IP for local autocomplete ranking. On Vercel this uses built-in request geo headers; otherwise a lightweight IP lookup may be used.
  • Stripe — subscription billing and checkout. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Cookies

We use cookies required for the site to function, including session cookies from Clerk when you sign in. No advertising cookies are set in v1 of this site.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
